The UK AutoCheck service
Experian AutoCheck at autocheck.co.uk is a UK vehicle-history product. That domain distinction matters when searching for the brand, because information about other countries’ AutoCheck products should not be assumed to describe this service. The UK homepage offers registration-based reports covering outstanding finance, stolen records, write-offs, salvage, scrapping, plate history and import or export markers.
It is available for more than passenger cars: the published service also mentions motorcycles, vans and other vehicle types. The report is a collection of relevant records, not a personal recommendation to buy. We have reviewed its public product pages and help information, without purchasing a report or testing a specific registration.
Buying and keeping a report
The website offers a single check and a MultiCheck bundle. Its FAQ says the bundle can be used for up to five vehicles within 365 days from purchase. That can suit a buyer working through several candidates, but unused capacity only offers value if you will actually need it. Check the live checkout amount and validity conditions when choosing a bundle.
Guest purchase is supported, so an account is not required simply to order a report. Experian describes immediate on-screen delivery plus an email with a downloadable PDF and an online link. An account provides a route back to purchased reports and is part of the workflow for activating the data guarantee. Keep the purchase confirmation and report together if you go ahead with the vehicle.
Understanding the data guarantee
The published guarantee page states a limit of up to £30,000 or the vehicle’s market value at the time of claim, whichever is lower, and a two-year period from vehicle purchase. It applies only to a checked vehicle that you subsequently buy, rather than to every registration you investigate. Covered data fields and eligibility are defined in the terms.
Registration is a separate step. The product journey mentions confirming the VIN, while the guarantee page asks buyers to return after purchase and supply purchase details. Read those instructions before the transaction so that the report, physical vehicle identity and paperwork can be matched correctly. The headline limit should not be interpreted as comprehensive cover for mechanical defects or every possible buying loss.
Our view
AutoCheck is a clear option for someone seeking Experian’s own UK report rather than a differently branded presentation of vehicle data. Guest ordering and PDF delivery are practical features, while MultiCheck has a defined time window. Its main point to understand is the distinction between buying information and registering eligible protection: the report can inform a decision, but any guarantee remains subject to its own conditions.
