The free starting point and paid reports
CarVeto is a UK vehicle-history service built around a registration lookup. Its homepage offers a free starting report, with MOT history, vehicle details and tax information among the advertised fields. The paid service adds more consequential history checks. These are separate levels of investigation: identifying a vehicle and reading its MOT entries does not establish that no finance, theft or write-off record exists.
The FAQ describes Gold as excluding finance and Platinum as including it. The homepage also uses the broader term Full History Check, so buyers should read the actual package description shown for their order. We have reviewed the public product information and sample, without placing an order or treating a sample vehicle as a test of the service.
How to read the additional information
CarVeto names several underlying sources, including DVLA, DVSA, Experian, police theft information, insurance records and mileage sources. The FAQ says its finance information can show the agreement type, finance company, agreement number, date and lender contact details. Those fields are useful because a finance marker needs a specific explanation and resolution; it should not disappear into a general green-or-red summary.
The published sample illustrates a detailed MOT history, including advisory entries and changes in recorded mileage between tests. Looking across those entries can help a buyer frame maintenance questions. A later pass is useful context, but supporting invoices and a physical inspection are still needed to establish what work was actually done. CarVeto itself explains the complementary role of an inspection and test drive.
Guarantee wording needs care
We found inconsistent guarantee amounts across CarVeto’s own pages: the homepage and some explanatory pages quote one limit, while the sample and other pages quote a higher figure. We therefore do not present a single amount as settled here. The refund policy is clearer about scope: only an eligible Platinum or CarVeto Complete order may include the finance guarantee, and a Gold finance upgrade does not include it.
The current terms link to additional guarantee conditions and describe the processing delays inherent in third-party records. A guarantee is not a warranty for the engine, the quality of accident repairs or every statement made by a seller. Before paying, establish which terms accompany that particular package and retain the confirmation with the report.
Our view
CarVeto offers a useful progression from an initial lookup to a fuller history report, with finance detail that can support follow-up questions. Its sample is worth reading before purchase because it shows the style of information returned. The principal caveat is presentation consistency: rely on the ordered package and applicable terms for coverage and guarantee promises, rather than combining claims from several different landing pages.
